Coco went by many names over the years. Coco Puff, Puffball, Peeper, Little Peep Peep, the Little Old Lady and the Little Bitty Kitty.

Coco grew up with her sister, Smokey, and while they were not so close that they groomed each other or slept together, they did play regular games of chase.

After Smokey’s death, a young tabby named Buddy became Coco’s companion. He was always too young and rowdy for her taste; he would ambush and tackle her, and she would hiss. But they ate side-by-side and she almost always tried to steal Buddy’s food – just by inching her way into his territory. He always let her have his food.

Coco was not much of a lap cat but she loved to cozy up to absorb some body heat, and she slept under the covers with me during her last weeks.

During her last year, Coco became a yowler; her lung capacity and volume were astounding for a cat of her age. Everyone in our vicinity knew about it when Coco decided to voice her opinion, and everyone at West Ridge Animal Health Center knew what Coco’s opinion was about having to visit the vet.

It’s quiet here now and I have no little bitty kitty to keep warm at night. Buddy is getting lots of extra attention and it is very good to have him around.
